Our Philosophy

Northville Cooperative Preschool (NCP) provides an atmosphere of warmth and loving care for children and parents alike, encouraging individual growth and recognizing all states of child development. We believe in the importance of learning through play, and building a positive self-image. Our goal is to help children reach their full potential by encouraging a love of learning through discovery of the world around them. Through the cooperation of parents, staff, and children, we work toward this common goal.

Teachers and Teachers Accreditation

NCP teachers are certified by the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services and by the State of Michigan. They are members of the National Association of Educators of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Michigan Council of Cooperative Nurseries (MCCN).

Our Teachers are certified annually for CPR and First Aid and attend teaching seminars and conferences each year to freshen their skills.

Our History

NCP was founded in 1951 as a non-profit, parent run program for the children of Northville and surrounding communities. NCP is one of the largest cooperative preschools in the state of Michigan.

Many preschools nurture children, but NCP nurtures families. In this way, NCP is like no other. When a family joins NCP, their child joins a classroom where the additional presence of parents creates special warmth. The parents join a community that places very high value on active involvement in their child & education. When parents work in their child & classroom, they have opportunities to interact with NCP's highly trained and certified teachers as well as other parents in a very meaningful way. They are able to learn new parenting techniques and strategies for dealing with typical preschooler behavior.

License

NCP is licensed by the State of Michigan. NCP is a non-profit organization and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, creed or national origin. NCP does not discriminate against non-immunized children.
